Meta recently announced the winners of its 2026 Data Center Community Action Grants. Through this program, Meta gives direct funding to schools, nonprofits, and community groups. As a result, it supports areas where Meta operates its data centers around the world.
Takeaways 🚀
✅Supporting innovation in local communities
✅Promoting AI education and training
✅Empowering schools and nonprofits globally
✅Advancing STEAM and digital literacy
✅Expanding access to smart tools
This year, Meta awarded 328 grants. As a result, these funds back local projects that drive positive change. In particular, many of these projects focus on artificial intelligence (AI) education and workforce training.
Empowering Communities Through Technology
Since the program began, Meta has given over $94 million to fund 3,700 projects worldwide. Consequently, this funding demonstrates Meta’s strong commitment to keeping its data center communities innovative and resilient over the long term.
Furthermore, the grants help local groups use technology for social good. Additionally, they boost sustainability and improve local STEAM education. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Moreover, many of this year’s projects align with the White House AI Youth Education Pledge. As a result, they highlight responsible AI use and promote digital literacy.
Innovating Education in Louisiana and Ohio
For example, the Louisiana 4-H Foundation will use its grant to try something new. Specifically, the group plans to add drone technology and smartboards to its virtual training programs. As a result, this innovation prepares students for modern careers in agriculture and land management.
Meanwhile, in Ohio, the Perrysburg Schools Foundation is teaching practical AI skills to both educators and students. As a result, this effort helps more than 4,000 students in the Bowling Green area get ready for a digital future.
Solving Local Problems with Smart Tools
In Texas, Healthier Texas is changing how people access healthcare in Bell County. Specifically, this nonprofit uses an AI-powered health coaching app. As a result, the app gives people fair access to preventive care and wellness tools. Notably, it is designed to help underserved rural communities stay healthy.
Additionally, in North Carolina, Isothermal Community College is building an Autonomous Technology and AI Hub. This center, in turn, gives students hands-on practice in fast-growing fields like agriculture, manufacturing, and aerospace. Consequently, the project transforms Rutherford County into a main hub for engineering and machine learning.
A Growing Global Commitment
Importantly, Meta’s grant program now reaches 27 data center regions. This includes 24 cities in the United States and three international locations. Additionally, this year, the program welcomed seven new data center communities.
Therefore, by funding these projects, Meta supports local neighborhoods. In addition, the company sparks innovation and prepares the next generation for a tech-driven world. Finally, you can find the full list of 2026 grant winners on Meta’s official website.
