Today in London, Google and Samsung celebrated the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. To begin with, these devices make it easier to get started on Android. On top of that, they bring the first features of Gemini Intelligence, Google’s vision for technology that works for you.

For instance, you can unfold your phone to work on a bigger screen. Alternatively, you can keep it folded to focus on your day. Either way, Gemini Intelligence handles the heavy lifting. With that in mind, here’s a look at three updates coming to the newest devices.

1. Gemini Intelligence Automates Tasks Across 40+ Apps

First of all, Gemini Intelligence takes digital chores off your plate. As a result, you spend less time staring at a screen. Back in February, Google launched a beta for task automation. At that stage, it let you hand simple errands to Gemini, like ordering a rideshare or grabbing your favorite takeout.

Now, task automation reaches more than 40 popular apps. Because of that, Gemini can help you handle daily “life admin” tasks. Specifically, it shops for you, books dinner reservations, plans travel, and buys event tickets. What’s more, on the Galaxy Z Flip8, you can open this help straight from the Flex Window. Simply long-press the power button.

In addition, Gemini reads what’s on your screen and understands complex images as prompts. After all, sometimes the easiest way to explain a request is to show it. For example, snap a shopping list or an inspiration photo, and Gemini picks it up from there.

Meanwhile, you stay in control as Gemini works. For instance, you can track the progress step by step, jump to other apps, or close your phone and let Gemini run in the background. Need to tweak a detail? In that case, step in, make your change, then hand control back. Finally, Gemini tells you when the task is ready for your review and okay.

2. Gemini Notebook Powers Deep Research on Foldables

Naturally, big projects need a smart research partner. For that reason, Google brings Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) right to your device. Better still, the app comes preinstalled on Samsung’s new foldables.

Under the hood, Gemini Notebook runs on Google’s advanced multimodal models. Thanks to the Galaxy Z Fold8 series’ wide display, you can drag and drop photos, documents, whiteboard images, and voice recordings into a side-by-side workspace.

From there, use the chat feature to ask questions about your sources. Beyond that, you can create your own resources. In other words, you can build slide decks, videos, flash cards, quizzes, or even a podcast, all tailored to how you learn best.

Not only that, but Google also includes a six-month trial of Google AI Pro with every Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. Consequently, the trial unlocks powerful features like Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, and Slides.

3. Gemini Goes Everywhere: Galaxy Watch 9 and Intelligent Eyewear

Even so, Google’s work with Samsung reaches beyond smartphones. To that end, the Galaxy Watch 9 puts Gemini right on your wrist. Just raise your arm and, right away, Gemini activates. Best of all, no wake word is needed.

Furthermore, Gemini comes to glasses too. Earlier, at Google I/O 2026, Google announced intelligent eyewear built with Samsung, launching this fall. At that time, two designs came from eyewear partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Today, in addition, Google revealed two more frames and showed how Gemini will work on them. As a bonus, wear a compatible Wear OS watch, and you can control your glasses with a simple hand gesture.

In short, whether you want to simplify your routine or get more done, these announcements are just the start. Looking ahead, Google will roll out more intelligent features as they’re ready. Therefore, you won’t be left waiting.
